Predators' Weber not traveling to Chicago, out at least 2 games
The Nashville Predators suffered a huge loss in their Game 2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.
Captain and stalwart defenseman Shea Weber sustained a lower-body injury and will not travel with the team for Games 3 and 4, the club announced Saturday.
Weber appeared to be injured after a collision along the boards with Brandon Saad.
Weber - who scored 15 goals and added 30 assists in 78 regular-season games - saw only 13 minutes of ice time Friday prior to the injury, but was deployed for a total of 38:13 in a Game 1 double-overtime loss.
While the loss of Weber is huge, the Predators are built to somewhat absorb his absence, with the likes of Seth Jones, Cody Franson and Ryan Ellis able to step in and patrol the right side of the ice.
Still, the club is no doubt hoping for good news when Weber is evaluated further following Game 4.
