Noah K. Murray / USA TODAY Sports

An MRI on Brett Gardner's ailing right wrist confirmed a bone bruise after X-rays returned negative. The New York Yankees' left fielder is considered day-to-day.

Gardner missed the team's last two contests after getting hit by a pitch in Monday's win over the Baltimore Orioles. Chris Young started both games in left field in place of him.

The speedy Gardner is hitting .261/.393/.435 through six games, a year after posting a .749 OPS with a career-high 17 homers.

New York's off Thursday before beginning a three-game set versus the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday.
