It's official. Hamburger SV have appointed their fourth manager of the season.

Hamburg, who are the midst of a disastrous Bundesliga campaign, sit at the bottom of the league table with only 25 points from 28 fixtures and are facing an uphill relegation battle.

The club went into the season under manager Mirko Slomka, who was replaced by Joe Zinnbauer in September after a dreadful start to the campaign. However, Zinnbauer didn't last much longer than his predecessor and was replaced in March by director of football Peter Knabel, who was expected to take over as manager until the end of the season.

"We have no time to lose," said Labbadia, a former Hamburg player who signed a 15-month contract with the club and will continue as manager even if they are relegated to Bundesliga 2.

"We'll go into the northern derby with Werder (Bremen) with the best preparation we can have, and we'll do the same for the remaining games. Every point counts for us, and I'm delight that, as always, HSV still has such support from the fans. Our remit is to perform as a team until the final game of the season. Nothing else matters."

Supporters have vented their fury over Hamburg's struggles this season, leading to an incident on Saturday that saw midfielder Lewis Holtby confront the club's fans and defend himself following a 2-0 to VfL Wolfsburg at home.
