Petr Mrazek stands tall as Red Wings mute Lightning in Game 3

Tim Fuller / USA Today

Petr Mrazek stopped 22 shots for his first Stanley Cup playoffs shutout as the Detroit Red Wings frustrated the Tampa Bay Lightning at The Joe, regaining the series lead with a 3-0 victory in Game 3.

Detroit succumbed to Tampa Bay's vaunted offensive attack in Game 2, but have now successfully muted superstar Steven Stamkos across three starts, limiting him to just two assists.

Star Performer: It starts with Mrazek, but the entire Red Wings' penalty kill deserves recognition in this one. They killed off six minors and kept Tampa's man advantage out of sorts all night.

Turning Point: The Lightning were in the game, beginning to pressure more and more into the third. But after another bad penalty from Braydon Coburn - clearly having trouble with the tempo of the series - Riley Sheahan gave the Wings a two-goal cushion.

Goalie Comparison: Neither Mrazek nor Lightning starter Ben Bishop were saddled too heavy of a workload, but the Detroit netminder obviously had the edge. His best moment came with a slice of vengeance, as he denied Brian Boyle on a short-handed breakaway.

Goalie Shots GA Saves SV%
Bishop 20 2 18 0.900
Mrazek 22 0 22 1.000

Top Highlight: Sheahan's goal was a how-to on breaking down a defense on a power play zone entry. Take note, Tampa.

Stat of the Night: The Lightning have been shut out twice in their 85 games this season. Mrazek has both of them.
