Eastern Conference playoff scenarios

The 2014-15 NBA season has seen 1,216 games played over 169 days, and yet on the 14-game final night of the regular season, there are still two playoff spots up for grabs and only one postseason matchup already set.

With a number of scenarios still in play, here are all of the potential East scenarios to monitor on Wednesday:

Atlanta Hawks: The Hawks have had the East's top seed locked up for a while now, and are simply waiting to find out whether they'll open the playoffs against the Nets or Pacers.

Cleveland Cavaliers: A 33-9 run since mid-January has propelled the Cavs to the Central Division title and the East's No. 2 seed, locking them into a matchup with the seventh-seeded Celtics. It's the only one of eight first-round pairings that has already been set.

Chicago Bulls: The Bulls control their own destiny on Wednesday. A home victory over a Hawks team with nothing to play for gives Chicago the No. 3 seed and a first-round series with Milwaukee, but it also puts them on a second-round collision course with LeBron James's Cavs.

Toronto Raptors: A Bulls loss opens up the possibility for the Raptors to snag the No. 3 seed with a franchise-record 49th win when they host the Charlotte Hornets. A Toronto win plus Chicago loss would level the teams at 49-33, but the Raptors' Atlantic Division crown gives them the tiebreaker despite the Bulls' 4-0 season series sweep.

A Bulls win or a Raps loss and Toronto will open the postseason against the fifth-seeded Wizards.

Washington Wizards: The Wizards will travel to Cleveland for a meeting of two teams with nothing to play for, having already clinched the No. 5 and 2 seeds, respectively. They'll wait on the results from Toronto and Chicago to determine where they'll travel to this weekend.

Milwaukee Bucks: The Bucks can't move from their positioning in the sixth spot, but a W over the seventh-seeded Celtics would give Milwaukee its first winning season in five years.

Boston Celtics: Jae Crowder's game-winning jumper over Toronto on Tuesday locked Boston into the No. 7 seed and a first-round matchup with the Cavs. They'll have nothing to play for against the aforementioned Bucks tonight.

Indiana Pacers: An upset victory in Memphis tonight - which would be the Pacers' seventh straight - or a Nets loss to the Orlando Magic clinches the eighth and final playoff spot for Indiana. That would set up a rematch of last year's 1 vs. 8 matchup against Atlanta, only with the teams reversing their seeding.

A Pacers loss leaves their fate in Brooklyn's hands.

Brooklyn Nets: The Nets should be able to take care of the pesky young Magic in Brooklyn at 8:00 p.m. ET., but even so, they'll have to wait around and hope the Pacers lose in Memphis in what is a 9:30 tip on ESPN.

Should they get the win and Pacers loss they need, however, the Nets will head to Atlanta, just like their first-round draft pick.
