Wisconsin's Frank Kaminsky wins 2015 John R. Wooden Award
Frank Kaminsky was announced as the winner of the 2015 John R. Wooden Award on Friday morning, completing the Wisconsin senior's sweep of all significant player of the year awards.
Duke center Jahlil Okafor finished second in the voting of nearly 1,000 "college basketball experts." Kentucky forward Willie Cauley-Stein was third. Notre Dame guard Jerian Grant and Ohio State guard D'Angelo Russell round out the top five.
Kaminsky averaged 18.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 blocks this season, helping the Badgers to a 36-4 record and Big Ten regular season and tournament titles. He then keyed a victory over previously undefeated Kentucky in the Final Four, pushing Wisconsin through to its first national title game appearance since 1941.
Kaminsky has already taken home the Oscar Robertson Award, the Naismith Trophy and been named player of the year by the Big Ten and Associated Press.
