Jay Cutler's autographed football goes unwanted at auction

Mike DiNovo / USA TODAY Sports

Upon missing the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year, Jay Cutler doesn't appear to be a popular man in the Windy City.

The Chicago Bears quarterback autographed a football for an Anti-Cruelty Society charity auction at Bloomingdale's, where no one bid on the item.

Whether it's unfair or not, Cutler has often been maligned for not leading the star-studded Bears offense during multiple playoff runs. Cutler steered the Bears to the NFC Championship Game in 2010, where the team lost to their arch-rival Green Bay Packers, who ended up capturing Super Bowl XLV.

"When it came back, I was surprised it didn't go, but I didn't think it was because of who signed the football," Anti-Cruelty Society president Dr. Robyn Barbiers said to the Chicago Tribune's Phil Thompson

Cutler made his best effort to shed his curmudgeon image, but it appears it fell upon an unimpressed or oblivious audience.
