Eagles' Chip Kelly is scaring jersey retailers

It's not easy being a jersey retailer in Philadelphia these days.

The Eagles have been one of the most active teams this offseason, trading away running back LeSean McCoy and quarterback Nick Foles, and allowing wide receiver Jeremy Maclin to walk away in free agency. The roster overhaul has retailers reluctant to order new uniforms.

"I don't know what Chip Kelly is doing," Frank Sanders, store manager of Lids Locker Room in the Cherry Hill Mall in Philadelphia, told Sam Donnellon of the Philadelphia Daily News. "So, yeah, I'm a little nervous getting anything in here just yet."

The nearby Sports Authority is also holding off on ordering new uniforms. Employee Tina Lopez said that the store's district manager has forbid them from making big orders until they're sure the players Kelly brought in will still be with the Eagles by the end of the summer.

Sam Bradford, who was acquired in the Foles trade, is of particular concern to retailers, as there is speculation the Eagles could use him as part of a draft-day deal to acquire Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Modell's in the Cherry Hill Mall has an ample supply of DeMarco Murray jerseys, but when asked by Donnellon if they plan on getting Bradford shirts in soon, one employee asked him why he asked and referred him to an 800 number after he revealed it was for a story.

"I'm not allowed to comment on that," she said.

Sanders expects Lids to start ordering new names eventually, but cautions that it likely won't be any time soon.

"I grew up loving my Eagles," he said. "I look at all of this and I'm like, 'Aaarrgh.'"
