The Tampa Bay Lightning recalled defenseman Slater Koekkoek from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.
General manager Steve Yzerman announced the move ahead of the team's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The call-up comes after defenseman Victor Hedman left the game Monday against the Montreal Canadiens with an undisclosed injury.
Koekkoek has five goals and 24 points in 66 games with the Crunch.
