Report: Rysheed Jordan could move on from St. John's

With Steve Lavin out as head coach and Chris Obekpa potentially departing right behind him, the future of St. John's basketball program is cloudy.

That cloudiness includes questions about the future of sophomore Rysheed Jordan. Jordan is waiting to see who is installed as the team's new head coach and what happens with Obekpa before making a decision about his own future, according to a report from Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv.

Lavin and the Red Storm agreed to part ways this week after extension talks stalled at the finalization stage, and a handful of enticing names have been thrown out as potential replacements.

Obekpa, meanwhile, was suspended by Lavin for the NCAA tournament, and could now potentially leave the program. Whether Lavin's removal changes Obekpa's mind is to be seen, but the shot-blocker would be a potential - though somewhat unlikely - second-round pick in the NBA draft should he leave school.

Jordan, meanwhile, likely wouldn't have the NBA as an option, at least not yet. He averaged 14.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists this year while shooting 36.4 percent from long range, but he sits outside ESPN's top 200 prospects and could use at least one more year of seasoning to get him on the NBA radar.

A transfer, then, is Jordan's most likely option should he want out of St. John's.
