Knicks' Calderon on playing again this season: 'I don't think it's a good chance'
While he hopes to make it back on the court before the season is over, New York Knicks point guard Jose Calderon now believes it's unlikely that he will.
Calderon, who underwent platelet-rich plasma treatment on his injured left Achilles earlier this week, admitted Friday that he's likely done for the season.
"To play again, I don't think it's a good chance," said Calderon, who will be in a walking boot for another 10 days. "After the boot is off, we'll have to make another decision," he told reporters Friday.
The veteran guard left a game due to soreness in his Achilles on Feb. 25 and has missed 16 consecutive games since.
Calderon, who also missed the first 13 games of the season with a right calf injury, was acquired from the Mavericks in an offseason trade that sent Tyson Chandler back to Dallas.
The 33-year-old is struggling through his worst season in eight or nine years, averaging 9.1 points and 4.7 assists on a True Shooting Percentage of 51.9, although he's still knocking down three-pointers at a 41.5 percent clip.
Calderon has two years and over $15 million remaining on his contract after this season.
