Report: Panthers, Jagr to open contract-extension talks

The Florida Panthers and Jaromir Jagr are reportedly ready to talk contract.

Panthers general manager Dale Tallon and Jagr's agent, Petr Svoboda, will meet on Saturday to discuss a contract extension, TVA's Renaud Lavoie reported.

The veteran was non-committal when asked about his future with the club on Thursday.

George Richards of the Miami Herald reported earlier this week that the Panthers were interested in re-signing Jagr.

Jagr was traded to the Panthers by the New Jersey Devils on Feb. 26 for a second-round draft pick in 2015 and a third-round selection in 2016. He signed a one-year deal with the Devils last April.

The 43-year-old has nine points in 12 games with the Panthers after chipping in 29 points in 57 contests with the Devils prior to the trade.

Jagr ranks fifth on the all-time points list with 1,793 in 1,542 games.
