Dana White: UFC 189 is 'going to do a $7-million gate'

Although the UFC has shelled out gobs of money to promote UFC 189, the promotion's president, Dana White, is expecting the financial windfall following the event to be staggering.

"It's god damn expensive," White told MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani. "It's very expensive, but we're pretty good at feeling out what we think is going to be big, and this thing is going to be the fastest selling fight ever. Tomorrow, when this goes on sale, I think the tickets are going to be gone in seconds. This thing is going to do a $7-million gate."

According to White, the juice will definitely be worth the squeeze, so to speak. He's expecting the featherweight title clash between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor to be the biggest bout of the year, and the UFC is coming off the most profitable first quarter in company history.

"We ain't out here spending the money if we didn't expect it," White said. "From the day we made this fight ... that was my vision. My vision was this thing is going to be the biggest fight of the year, and coming off the first quarter, the biggest first quarter this company's ever had."
