Report: Tennessee coach Donnie Tyndall has second meeting with NCAA investigators

Jim Brown / USA TODAY Sports

Donnie Tyndall met a second time with NCAA investigators looking into potential violations at Southern Mississippi.

The Tennessee head coach reportedly had another meeting on March 18 to discuss his time with the Golden Eagles from 2012-14, according to Yahoo Sports' Pat Forde.

Southern Miss implemented a self-imposed ban on postseason play this season for reported violations. Tyndall first met with the NCAA in November about potential violations involving impermissible financial aid to players Matt Bingaya and Shadell Millinghaus, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

Under Tyndall's contract with Tennessee, he could be fired for cause if he had committed a major violation at another program - Level I or Level II. The Volunteers are waiting for additional information from the NCAA, athletic director Dave Hart said during the SEC tournament.

"We understand that they have to finish looking into everything that they need answers to before they would tell us where they are," Hart told Nashville radio station WGFX. "We understand that that's the situation."

Tyndall has been in trouble with the NCAA previously. In his first head-coaching position at Morehead State, Tyndall accepted responsibility after the school was placed on probation in 2010 for impermissible booster activity.
