Strengths
- Has a quick and compact delivery, throwing with both good velocity and accurate ball placement.
- Stays composed when a play breaks down, taking care of the football and avoiding costly turnovers.
- Senses the pass rush and can step up or make a defender miss within the pocket.

- Has ideal height at 6-foot-4, but a somewhat thin build could generate concerns as to whether or not he can withstand the punishment NFL quarterbacks take in the pocket.
NFL Player Comparison: Ryan Tannehill
A prospect with elite-level athleticism and some work to be done in the passing game, Mariota best compares to Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Like Tannehill, Mariota has every physical tool scouts look for in a quarterback, but without much experience in a pro-style offense. It could take him some time to develop and reach his potential.
Ideal Fit: Philadelphia Eagles
Though it would likely involve a blockbuster trade that sees the Eagles move into the top 10 on draft day, there isn't a situation better for Mariota than landing with Chip Kelly and the same offense he ran to perfection in college. Several teams near the top of the draft will certainly be open to moving down, but will Philadelphia be able to justify parting with the substantial package of picks and/or players it would take to get a deal done?
