Naismith College Player of the Year finalists announced
The choice for college basketball's player of the year comes down to four names.
Kentucky forward Willie Cauley-Stein, Notre Dame guard Jerian Grant, Wisconsin forward Frank Kaminsky and Duke forward Jahlil Okafor are the finalists, as announced by the NCAA on Thursday.
Cauley-Stein, a junior, averaged 9.3 points with 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks for the 34-0 Wildcats, who claimed the SEC championship.
Grant, a senior, averaged 16.8 points with 6.6 assists and three rebounds to guide the 29-5 Fighting Irish to the ACC championship.
Kaminsky, a senior, averaged 18.2 points with eight rebounds and 1.6 blocks to lead the 31-3 Badgers to the Big Ten championship.
Okafor, a freshman, averaged 17.7 points with nine rebounds and 1.4 blocks, to help lead the 29-4 Blue Devils.
Creighton forward Doug McDermott won the award last year.
