Arizona State student Kelsi Langley, the girlfriend of Sun Devils linebacker Davon Durant, has recanted a statement alleging that Durant assaulted her, according to ESPN's Kyle Bonagura.

Durant was recently suspended after being arrested on allegations of aggravated assault and domestic violence involving Langley, who claims to have lied to the police.

According to a statement made to ESPN, Langley purposely made a scene with Durant outside of her apartment the day of the incident because she was upset with messages from other girls on his phone. Langley told police when they arrived that Durant had grabbed her neck and hit her face once.

Langley bailed Durant out of jail on March 8, but has had no contact with him since. She changed her story with police the next day and claimed that the bruises on her neck were actually hickies. Langley said that, although the police did take photos of her neck, she did not meet with the medical examiner.

Tempe Public Information Officer Michael Pooley said in an email, obtained by ESPN that Durant was still arrested and charged, despite Langley recanting, because of witnesses' accounts of the assault and her facial and neck injuries.

"It really kind of shocked me," Langley said when asked about the witness accounts. "I don't know how they could have said that because if what they had said was true - they said he grabbed the back of my head and threw it against the dashboard - my face would have been messed up. There would have been marks on my face."

Durant remains suspended.

"[The police are] very skeptical [of my story], as anyone would be, because this happens a lot in these situations," said Langely. "You can't really tell who is being truthful, but I felt it was important to do the right thing."
