Westbrook on MVP talk: It doesn't 'really matter to me'

Russell Westbrook is in the midst of a historic stretch, propelling himself into the MVP discussion as a result. 

The Oklahoma City Thunder point guard is averaging an NBA-best 27.5 points per game, has a league-leading eight triple-doubles and ranks second with a 29.8 player efficiency rating. 

He's averaging 32.5 points, 10.1 assists and 9.6 rebounds over his last 18 contests, single-handedly keeping the Thunder in line to capture their sixth consecutive playoff appearance. Oklahoma City entered Monday one game ahead of the New Orleans Pelicans for the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. 

Westbrook's been arguably the biggest story in basketball, but he's not concerned about his individual accomplishments. He brushed off the idea of winning the MVP award, a year after teammate Kevin Durant captured the honor, when talking to reporters ahead of Monday's game against the Dallas Mavericks.
