Kansas prepares for NCAA tournament without Cliff Alexander
Kansas is moving onto their NCAA tournament preparations without star forward Cliff Alexander.
Jayhawks head coach Bill Self told ESPN's Andy Katz the team doesn't expect the freshman will have his eligibility restored by the NCAA in time to play in the tournament.
"I think the same as it was last week and the week before and the week before that; not very good," said Self when asked about the chances of Alexander seeing tournament action. "We're certainly moving on with the likelihood he will not be available to us. If he is, of course that would be a big bonus, but at this time I don't think so."
Alexander has been out since Feb. 23 as the NCAA investigates a connection between his mother and a loan firm. His attorney has been adamant that Alexander is ready and willing to speak to the NCAA, but the organization has so far declined.
Although multiple reports have Alexander confirmed to be out, Self said he hasn't officially ruled him out.
