Cousins posts 39 points and 24 rebounds, Kings still lose in Philly

Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

If ever there was a night to dust off the old #FreeBoogie hashtag, it was Friday.

DeMarcus Cousins finished with a ridiculous 39 points, 24 rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block on 12-of-24 shooting against the woeful Philadelphia 76ers, but his Sacramento Kings suffered an embarrassing loss in Philly regardless.

Cousins, who had 22 points and 15 rebounds at the half, became just the fifth player in the last 30 seasons - and the first in 14 years - to post at least 39 points and 24 rebounds in a game.

Robert Covington scored a team-high 24 points for the Sixers, while Nerlens Noel finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Rudy Gay had 24 points for Sacramento, but he and the rest of the non-Boogie Kings combined for 23-of-63 shooting.

The Kings fell to 22-42 with the loss, while the Sixers improved to 15-50.

#FreeBoogie, indeed.
