Calgary is in need of defensive depth after losing Norris Trophy candidate Mark Giordano to a season-ending arm injury.
Murray has 64 points in 518 career games and last played in the NHL in 2013-14 with the Montreal Canadiens, registering a pair of assists in 53 contests.
