Free-agent linebacker Jason Worilds is retiring from the NFL at the age of 27, according to his agent.

Worilds was set to be one of the more coveted pass rushers as free agency got under way Tuesday.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports notes that Worilds' decision has something to do with a new passion off the field.

Something Worilds seemed to disagree with.

Worilds posted 15.5 sacks over the last two campaigns with the Pittsburgh Steelers and appeared to be on the cusp of becoming an impact player in the league.

Rumors surfaced about Worilds possibly reuniting with Dick LeBeau in Tennessee, but the linebacker obviously had other ideas.

In five years with the Steelers, he posted 25.5 sacks and more than 200 tackles.
