Nets' Karasev injures knee against Pelicans

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

Tuesday was a horrific night for the Brooklyn Nets. After injuries to Alan Anderson and Markel Brown forced the two out of the game against the New Orleans Pelicans, reserve guard Sergey Karasev went down after twisting his right knee. He had to be carried off the court.

The Nets said afterwards that the 21-year-old Russian had a knee sprain, but that further tests would be done Wednesday.

With three wings going down in rapid succession, the Nets suddenly find themselves shorthanded in that area. Following the loss to the Pelicans, Nets coach Lionel Hollins told reporters that Karasev will not travel with the team for Wednesday's game in Miami. He was reportedly seen on crutches Tuesday night.

Karasev, in his first year with the Nets after spending his rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, is averaging 4.8 points in 17.2 minutes per game.
