Duke's Jahlil Okafor 1st freshman to win ACC Player of the Year award

Duke freshman center Jahlil Okafor has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, and earned a first-team all-conference selection.
The ACC announced its award winners after a vote by 64 members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Okafor received 44 votes for player of the year, with Notre Dame's Jerian Grant earning 14.
Okafor ranks second in the ACC in scoring with 18.2 points per game, and third in rebounding with 9.2 boards per game. He scored in double figures in 29 of 30 games this season.
