Report: Greg Hardy's meeting with NFL produces no resolution

Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy left Wednesday's meeting with NFL officials without a resolution in his domestic-violence case, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Hardy was convicted in July on charges of misdemeanor assault and communicating threats stemming from an altercation with his former girlfriend. He appealed the decision and had both charges dismissed Feb. 9 after prosecutors said they were unable to locate his accuser to testify.

Hardy, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent, remains on the commissioner's exempt list while the NFL determines whether he should be suspended for violating the league's personal conduct policy. He is seeking immediate reinstatement.

The NFL began its own investigation after charges were dropped against Hardy and has uncovered enough evidence so far to warrant a suspension, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. It has sought photos, the trial transcript and other physical evidence to help with the investigation.

Hardy turned over documents from his legal case to NFL officials during Wednesday's meeting, according to Rapoport.

The Panthers are expected to let Hardy hit the open market regardless of whether or not he is suspended by the league.
