LeBron James continued his ascent in the NBA's all-time scoring list.

James passed former Miami Heat teammate Ray Allen for 21st in the NBA's all-time scoring list on Tuesday against the Boston Celtics.

Kyrie Irving found a cutting James for a layup with eight minutes remaining in the third quarter to give James 25 points on the night, which moved him one point ahead of Allen.

Coming into the game, James trailed Allen by 24 points. James managed 21 points by halftime.

James now sits 309 points back of New York Knicks legend Patrick Ewing for 20th. Given James's scoring average of 26.2 points per game, James will almost certainly pass Ewing by the end of this season.

Across parts of 12 seasons, James is averaging 27.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game.
