Report: Warriors' Speights pleads no contest to misdemeanor reckless driving charge
Golden State Warriors center Marreese Speights pleaded no contest to a reduced misdemeanor charge of reckless driving Monday, Diamond Leung of Inside Bay Area reports.
Speights was arrested in Tampa, Fla., in August and charged with driving under the influence after testing above the legal alcohol content levels, according to the incident log.
The attorney for Speights filed a motion two months ago arguing evidence was obtained through an illegal traffic stop, before the plea agreement was eventually reached.
Speights has been a productive reserve for the Warriors, who sit in first in the Western Conference with a 46-12 record. The 27-year-old is averaging a career-high 11.4 points, along with 4.7 rebounds while shooting 49.5 percent from the field.
