Clippers hang on to beat Timberwolves

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Clippers did their best to give a game away to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday, but it wasn't meant to be.

The Wolves didn't score a field goal for the last 10 minutes of the fourth quarter, yet were in the game until the final minute thanks to 16 free throws down the stretch. The Clippers escaped with a 110-105 victory, but it won't be a happy one for coach Doc Rivers, as this reaction late in the game indicates:

Jamal Crawford left the game for the Clippers at halftime with a right calf contusion, and starting shooting guard J.J. Redick was ejected in the fourth for arguing with an official.

The Clippers managed to offset the fourth career triple-double by Wolves point guard Ricky Rubio (18 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists) with the play of Chris Paul, who had a game-high 26 points and 14 dimes. DeAndre Jordan had another monster night on the glass with 18 rebounds to go alongside 12 points. It was his ninth straight game with 15-plus boards.
