Major League Soccer is heading to the United Kingdom.

On Wednesday, Sky Sports announced they won the rights to broadcast exclusively live MLS action as part of a four-year deal that begins in March.

The contract follows a recent Sky Sports deal involving more Premier League coverage from 2016. It was negotiated with IMG, who partnered with MLS in order to distribute their global media rights for the next eight years.

A dramatic MLS season is in store as two new clubs - New York City FC and Orlando City SC - are set to embark on their inaugural campaigns, while English midfield icons Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard are set to join the L.A. Galaxy and NYCFC, respectively, this summer.

Sky Sports possess two ambassadors who are familiar with MLS in Thierry Henry and David Beckham, both of whom expressed excitement about the new deal following its announcement.

"This is another important moment that shows the continued growth of MLS," Beckham said. "I have seen first-hand how popular soccer has become in America. Having fantastic partners such as Sky Sports on board will not only add to the coverage of the game, it will also broaden its appeal outside of the U.S."

Henry echoed Beckham's sentiments.

"I will never forget my time playing in MLS - it gave me some great memories and I was proud to play a role in growing the game," Henry said.

"I saw the passion of the fans in the U.S. They have always had it for other sports but they also have it for football now and it's going to be huge in years to come."
