Oilers' Yakupov out with tweaked groin, considered day-to-day

Perry Nelson / USA TODAY Sports

In the midst of his most productive stretch of the season, Nail Yakupov has been sidelined with an injury.

Yakupov, who recently tweaked his groin, will miss Tuesday's game in Minnesota as a precautionary measure, coach Todd Nelson announced.

The young Edmonton Oilers forward recorded four goals and five assists in 11 February games, almost doubling his offensive output from October through January.

Matt Fraser will draw into the lineup and will get the opportunity to benefit from playing with Derek Roy, who has been a major factor in Yakupov's recent success.
