Nigel Johnson come off the bench to lead the Wildcats with 20 points, three rebounds and one assist to hand the Jayhawks their third loss of February.

Kansas State's Perry Ellis hustled out of the gate to put points on the board early, but a foul on Jayhawks forward Landen Lucas with one second left in the first half resulted in Nino Williams sinking two free throws to inch the Wildcats to a 31-30 lead at the break.

Kansas quickly regained control in the second half and held the lead until Johnson hit a 3-pointer to tie the score at 47 with less than 12 minutes left. It served as a reminder to Kansas: the Wildcats were still in the game.

Ellis put the team on his back and shot 10-for-16, racking up 24 points and eight rebounds. However, Johnson's layup, assisted by Justin Edwards, set in motion a run the Jayhawks could not stop.

The victory marks the first time Kansas State has won back-to-back games at home against the Jayhawks since 1981-83, according to ESPN
