Landon Collins cements draft stock atop weak safety class

Landon Collins cemented his stock as the top safety prospect in his draft class Monday with a strong (though unremarkable) time of 4.53 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
Collins is the consensus top safety available and it isn't particularly close. The Alabama product isn't necessarily a rare talent, but he's at a level (or two) above the rest of a very weak safety class. Collins shows good instincts in pass coverage and an impressive ability to diagnose running plays and knife to the ball carrier to deliver a big hit. Few of his peers can say the same.
Collins probably wouldn't be a first-round pick in a typical year, but this year's skewed supply and demand could result in him sneaking into the first round of April's draft.
