Wolves' Bennett out for at least 2 weeks with sprained ankle
The career of the No. 1 pick in the 2013 draft took another unfortunate hit Saturday when Minnesota Timberwolves forward Anthony Bennett was ruled out for a minimum of two weeks due to a sprained right ankle.
Bennett left Friday's game against the Phoenix Suns after hurting his leg. A subsequent MRI indicated the sprain. Bennett has played in 53 games for the Wolves this season, one more game than he played all of his rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Bennett has not been productive in the 15.8 minutes a game he's played in Minnesota. He's averaging 5.2 points per game on 41.8 percent shooting. Considered a stretch four when he entered the league, Bennett is shooting 29.4 percent from deep, and has a player efficiency rating of 10.9.
Minnesota's addition of Adreian Payne was expected to cut into Bennett's playing time, and that will clearly be the case now. Payne made his Wolves debut Friday, playing 14 minutes.
