Canadiens call on Tinordi to aid hobbled blue line

Marc DesRosiers / USA TODAY Sports

The Montreal Canadiens immediately announced plans to recall defenseman Jarred Tinordi after a pair of blue-liners were hobbled in Wednesday's loss to the Ottawa Senators.

Alexei Emelin left 20 seconds into the game after suffering what's being considered the more serious injury, but most of the concern was centered around P.K. Subban. The superstar labored throughout the contest after blocking a shot from point-blank range in the second period, but did play to the final whistle, picking up an assist.

The Canadiens did not provide an update on either defenseman, but Emelin is not expected to be in the lineup Thursday versus the Florida Panthers

Already rumored to be in the market for a defenseman, Montreal's search will only intensify should Emelin's suspected shoulder injury turn out serious.
