Redskins' Jay Gruden says RG3 will enter 2015 season as starter
Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden is doing his best to end the team's quarterback debate long before the 2015 season gets underway.
Taking the podium at the NFL Scouting Combine on Wednesday, Gruden indicated that Robert Griffin III will enter the year as the Redskins' starting quarterback.
"We'll go into the season with Robert as our No. 1 guy," Gruden told reporters.
Gruden's endorsement hardly comes as a surprise, since the Redskins desperately needed to commit to one player at the position to avoid the distracting back-and-forth situation they've found themselves in of late.
At the same time, Griffin needs to show significant improvement in a number of key areas to make the Redskins confident in his ability to handle the job long-term.
The talented former first-round pick took some concerning steps in the wrong direction following an incredible rookie year, but the Redskins are prepared to give him another opportunity to make good on his potential heading into next season.
