Mayweather on Pacquiao fight: 'I haven't signed yet'
Rumblings of a Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao fight remain just that, at least for now.
During Sunday's NBA All-Star Game, Mayweather was interviewed courtside about a report speculating that both parties have agreed in principle to a May fight.
Mayweather denied that anything is set in stone, but didn't rule out the notion that work is being done to finalize what would be the most prolific fight in boxing history, ESPN reports.
"No, that's not true," Mayweather said when asked if a contract was signed. "Um, I haven't signed yet, and he hasn't signed yet, you know. It's just been speculations and rumors. But hopefully we can make the fight happen."
The Telegraph report, citing a source close to Pacquiao, indicated the fight could be worth $250 million.
It's no secret that Pacquiao and Mayweather's inability to come to terms on a mega-fight has cast a shadow on the sport for years. Nevertheless, this appears to be the first time that both sides are engaged in serious talks.
