The Footy Power Rankings - February 16: Barcelona takes top spot as Real slips

Spoiler alert for this week:

Let's get to it.

Note: No tables this week due to a technical issue. They'll be back soon.

1. Barcelona (2nd in La Liga)

Previous Rank: 2nd

Their 5-0 victory over Levante on Sunday was the club's 11th consecutive win, and the ease with which they brush aside inferior opponents is downright frightening.

And then, just when you get bored of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez reducing the opposition to rubble, one of them goes and does something that makes you jump through the roof like you're Zach LaVine at the Slam Dunk Contest.

WHAT A GOAL LUIS SUÁREZ!!!

2. Bayern Munich (1st in Bundesliga)

Previous Rank: 3rd

Remember when Bayern Munich came out of the Bundesliga's absurdly long winter break still half-asleep, losing to Wolfsburg and then drawing Schalke? Nap time is over, and the machine is running at full speed again.

Bayern humiliated Hamburg 8-0 this weekend, with Arjen Robben doing Arjen Robben things and Thomas Muller doing, um, this spinning thing?

Time are good once again at the Allianz Arena, so a party is obviously in order. Theme? Wild West, of course.

Woody > Buzz Lightyear.

3. Real Madrid (1st in La Liga)

Previous Rank: 1st

Injuries have had a massive impact on the club in recent weeks, and they just haven't looked right since the beginning of the new year. Cristiano Ronaldo in particular.

The biggest indication that something is wrong with the Portuguese star may be the fact that, in lieu of scoring goals, he is now taking out any lingering frustration by murdering other humans. Exhibit A:

#ronaldo #skill #realmadrid #deportivo #chance #laliga

Lock him up. Life without parole.

4. Chelsea (1st in Premier League)

Previous Rank: 4th

Chelsea conceded a goal against Aston Villa - which is cause for great shame considering the Villans hadn't scored in over ten hours of EPL action until that match on Feb. 7 - but still collected the three points courtesy of a delightful volley from Branislav Ivanovic.

The Serbian has (once again) been an absolute beast this season, but even the very best players get embarrassed sometimes.

Barkley mugged off Ivanovic so hard!

5. Atletico Madrid (3rd in La Liga)

Previous Rank: 5th

Their 4-0 annihilation of city rivals Real Madrid was the most impressive performance by any team, in any competition, this season. Bar none.

Worthy of a bump up in the rankings? Absolutely. Until they followed that up by laying an egg in a 2-0 loss to Celta Vigo on Sunday.

It's a damn shame, too, because I had a great joke lined up in honor of Saul Niguez's bicycle kick goal. What, you mean everyone has made the 'Better Call Saul' connection already?

6. Juventus (1st in Serie A)

Previous Rank: 6th

The Bianconeri followed up their simple 3-1 victory over Milan with a disappointing 2-2 draw against Cesena on Sunday.

You could say they (*puts on sunglasses*) tripped up at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi.

Bonucci's goal celebration ?. #JuveMilan

Yeeeaaahhh.

7. Manchester City (2nd in Premier League)

Previous Rank: 7th

They may be seven points back of Chelsea in the title race, but at least they did it on a cold night at Stoke. That's all that matters in England, right?

On a serious note, Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony are (finally) back after their triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations, giving the Citizens a massive boost in their quest to retain the EPL crown. It feels like too great a gap to overcome, but with a full squad, it should at the very least be exciting.

8. Arsenal (5th in Premier League)

Previous Rank: 8th

Arsenal cruised into the quarter-final of the FA Cup with a 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough at the Emirates on Sunday, with Olivier Giroud scoring both goals for the Gunners.

I just couldn't live with myself if I passed up a prime opportunity to use one of the greatest Vine's ever created.

9. Wolfsburg (2nd in Bundesliga)

Previous Rank: 10th

Bas. Dost. Following his four-goal performance in the wild 5-4 win over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday - the undisputed match of the season thus far - the man will henceforth be known as Bayer's worst nightmare.

Great player. Better name.

10. FC Porto (2nd in Primeira Liga)

Previous Rank: 11th

Jackson Martinez didn't find the net in the Dragons' 1-0 win over Vitoria de Guesstimates on Friday. It was only the third time in his last ten matches that he didn't get on the scoresheet.

With the Colombian in the squad, Porto is the best team Portugal has to offer - even if they are still four points back of Benfica in the league table.

11. Paris Saint-Germain (3rd in Ligue 1)

Previous Rank: 9th

Zlatan Ibrahimovic getting 15 temporary tattoos as a way to raise awareness for the charitable efforts of the World Food Programme: amazing.

Paris Saint-Germain blowing a 2-0 lead in the 89th minute to Caen after mocking Jose Mourinho on Twitter minutes earlier: less awesome.

12. Benfica (1st in Primeira Liga)

Previous Rank: 12th

I see you starting at me, Benfica fans.

I still think Porto is better. Deal with it.

As for your team, after a comfortable 3-0 win over Vitoria Setubal on the weekend, Benfica will embark on a three-match run that should, at the very least, see them retain their four-point advantage at the top of the table.

Jorge Jesus will lead his men into matches against Moreirense (10th), Estoril (12th) and Arouca (16th) over the next few weeks, and anything less than nine points will be seen as a massive disappointment.

13. Southampton (4th in Premier League)

Previous Rank: 14th

Graziano Pelle's hair is still perfect, but we need to start talking about his production. Or lack thereof.

He's scored just three goals since Nov. 1. That's less than ideal. And yet, here they are, still sitting in a Champions League place.

14. Manchester United (3rd in Premier League)

Previous Rank: NA

The Red Devils are back on the list after a brief hiatus. How did they do it? Louis van Gaal explains with this dossier. (Hint: It wasn't long balls).

LVG's press conference summed up perfectly by the press officer's face @BreatheSport

The Dutchman is great, but the club's press officer is the real hero.

15. Bayer Leverkusen (6th in Bundesliga)

Previous Rank: NA

I don't particularly care that they've lost two straight matches. Being part of the aforementioned thriller with Wolfsburg is reason enough to have them on the list - even though they allowed five goals.

Son Heung-Min is a star, and under manager Roger Schmidt the German side plays arguably the most exciting brand of football on the planet. Of the teams below, would any of them consistently beat Bayer? I don't think so.

Dropped Out: Roma, Napoli

On the cusp: Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, Lyon
