Sacramento Kings head coach Tyrone Corbin has officially been relieved of his coaching duties, the team announced Thursday.

Corbin, who took over on an interim basis when Mike Malone was fired, had his interim tag lifted at the end of December. He was informed earlier in the week that he would be removed as coach after the All-Star break.

He has chosen to continue working with the team as an advisor to the front office.

"I have the utmost respect for Tyrone as a coach and person," Kings general manager Pete D’Alessandro said. "He’s a man of great integrity, a consummate professional that managed a difficult situation with class and professionalism. I look forward to continuing to work with Tyrone moving forward."

The Kings have a reported four-year, $14.5-million deal in place with George Karl to replace Corbin.
