Kyle Shanahan on Manziel: 'Johnny's a great guy'

The Atlanta Falcons introduced offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan to the media on Tuesday and although he refused to comment on his abrupt departure from Cleveland, he had positive things to say about quarterback Johnny Manziel.

"Johnny's a great guy, and I think he does get a little bit of a bad rep with that, because Johnny worked very hard for me," Shanahan said, according to Vaughn McClure of ESPN. "I really enjoyed coaching him."

"I don't know what he's going through right now," he added. "But I think I'm confident Johnny will work it all out,"

"And I think he has a chance to have a good future."

After Shanahan asked to be let out of his contract with two years remaining, speculation arose that a rift between the Cleveland Browns coaching staff and front office was the cause.

Specifically, Shanahan was reportedly unsatisfied with having Manziel forced on him as a starter.

Shanahan did not confirm or deny that.
