At long last and after much speculation, Chelsea has landed winger Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina.

The transfer fee was not disclosed, though reports suggest Chelsea did indeed trigger the €35-million buyout clause in Cuadrado's contract.

The Colombian, 26, expressed his delight at signing a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Blues.

"I am very happy and thankful for this opportunity I’ve been given," he said. "This is a great club and honestly it is like a dream to join the Chelsea family and to know that the manager believes in me. I’m happy."

Beginning with Udinese in 2009, Cuadrado has played the entirety of his career in Italy, spending one season with Lecce in 2011 before moving to Fiorentina and making himself a household name in Serie A.

His mixture of pace and willingness to attack opposing defenders should make him a nice addition to Jose Mourinho's squad, which lost Andre Schurrle after the German was sold to Wolfsburg earlier in the day, making room for the Colombian to come in and, ideally, provide an upgrade.

With Eden Hazard on one side, Cesc Fabregas through the middle and now Cuadrado in the mix, striker Diego Costa has an absurd group of providers around him to continue making his life wonderful at the top of the Chelsea attack.

As if he needed more help.
