Russell Wilson on loss to Patriots: 'I put the blame on me'
In the waning moments of Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday night, Russell Wilson threw an interception, leading the way to a 28-24 New England Patriots victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
with 20 seconds remaining in the game, Wilson was picked off by Malcolm Butler while trying to find Ricardo Lockette just inside the end zone.
In all, the Seahawks' quarterback went 12-of-21 for 247 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
"I put the blame on me. I'm the one who threw it," Wilson said of the interception in his post-game press conference.
"One inch too far. I thought it was going to be a touchdown when I threw it. I thought it was going to be game over."
Wilson said he had full confidence that he'd be able to deliver the game-winning score.
"When they called the call, I trusted it. There wasn't much else I could do."
Seattle led 24-14 entering the fourth quarter, but Brady threw two touchdowns in the final 15 minutes, leading the Patriots to victory.
"It definitely hurts. I'm the one who lost it in a way. I played my heart out. The guys played their hearts out," Wilson said.
