Chandler Parsons out again Saturday due to illness

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The absence of Chandler Parsons mattered little for the Dallas Mavericks on Friday as they steamrolled the Miami Heat.

They'll have to hope the same holds true Saturday, as Parsons is once again sidelined with an illness as the team sets to take on the Orlando Magic. Parsons first came down with the illness on Friday, saying it hit him out of nowhere after he awoke from a pre-game nap.

That means another start for veteran Richard Jefferson at small forward and more run for Charlie Villanueva, who scored 20 points Friday, off the bench.

This will mark just the third game Parsons has missed all season, and while the Mavs have split those two, they've been 1.8 points per-100 possessions better with Parsons on the floor this season. Signed to a substantial three-year deal this offseason, Parsons has come around after a slow start and is averaging 15.6 points and 4.6 rebounds with a career-best 16.3 player efficiency rating.

The Magic aren't necessarily equipped to take advantage of Parsons' absence on the wing, but they remain a difficult opponent despite their 15-34 record.
