The city of Boston is once again using sport to come together in hard times.

The northeast portion of the United States has been pounded with a severe winter storm, especially the Boston area, which has seen nearly three feet of snow. That didn't stop one good Samaritan, known as the Boston Shoveler, from letting Mother Nature smear one of the city's famous landmarks - the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

The finish line holds special meaning to those who reside in the region following the 2013 bombings that claimed the lives of three people. The images of Chris Laudani shovelling have gone viral, thrusting him into the public spotlight.

"I'm no hero, I'm just a nut who loves the marathon," Laudani told Boston Magazine. "The real heroes are the people who were out there clearing the streets and sidewalks ... who risk their lives every day to keep people safe."

Laudani has been running in the marathon either officially or unofficially since 2010. He's been offered entry to the 2015 race by the official sponsor, Adidas, for the good deed, according to ESPN's Darren Rovell.
