Report: Oilers have been trying to trade Jeff Petry 'for months'
Chris Austin / USA TODAY Sports
Jeff Petry appears set to be moved as part of the Edmonton Oilers' perpetual rebuild.
The 27-year-old, who will become an unrestricted free agent at season's end, is expected to be traded prior to the March 2 trade deadline.
Further to that, general manager Craig MacTavish has been trying to find the right deal for months, according to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun.
Based on the demand for right-shooting defensemen, Petry will no doubt attract attention on the trade market from several clubs.
In 46 games, Petry has recorded four goals, six assists, 85 shots and a minus-22 rating.
