Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard will be out for at least two weeks after an ultrasound confirmed the netminder has a slight groin tear.
General manager Ken Holland announced the results Tuesday.
Howard was already ruled out from participating in the NHL All-Star Game on Jan. 25, but the new timetable could sideline him until mid-February.
He was labelled week-to-week after having an MRI on Sunday.
Howard was stretchered off during Saturday's game against the Washington Capitals.
