VIDEO: Blown goaltending call sends Suns into OT

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Phoenix Suns netted themselves five minutes of free basketball thanks to a blown call by the refereeing crew.

With six seconds remaining in regulation, the Memphis Grizzlies held a two-point lead over the visiting Suns. But the Suns had a chance to tie.

After the initial action broke down, Suns small forward P.J. Tucker got the opportunity to isolate against Grizzlies power forward Zach Randolph. Being a quicker wing player, Tucker managed to get all the way to the basket to launch a layup.

However, as the ball was on the rim, Suns guard Eric Bledsoe jumped and grabbed the netting, causing the backboard to vibrate, which may have assisted in the layup sinking.

Despite rather blatant offensive goaltending, there was no call made, which meant the officials couldn't review the play.

The Grizzlies missed three attempts at a game-winner on the ensuing possession, including a pair of tip-in attempts from Marc Gasol and Randolph.
