Report: Seahawks likely to make Russell Wilson the NFL's highest-paid QB
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is in for a big payday.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, citing sources close to the situation, reported that Wilson is likely to become the league's highest-paid quarterback when the Seahawks sign him to a long-term extension this offseason.
Wilson's rookie contract runs through the 2015 season, but according to Rapoport, the Seahawks plan on getting a deal done sooner rather than later.
The former third-round pick earned $526,217 during the Seahawks' Super Bowl run in 2013 and carries a cap hit of $817,302 this season.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who signed a five-year, $110-million contract in 2013, has the highest average annual salary among quarterbacks at $22 million.
Wilson completed 63.1 percent of his passes for 3,475 yards, 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions during the regular season. Rodgers, by comparison, completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 4,381 yards, 38 touchdowns and five interceptions.
