Report: Browns parting ways with OC Kyle Shanahan

Ken Blaze / USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Browns have decided to cut ties with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, according to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports.

Marvez reported that an announcement from the team is imminent, and that they will also part ways with quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains.

Shanahan has been in Cleveland for just one season and reportedly asked to be released from his contract.

The long-time offensive coordinator has been linked to head coaching jobs in San Francisco and Buffalo. He could also be in line to run the offense for his father, Mike Shanahan, should he accept a head coaching job, and has ties to Jeff Fisher, who has an opening at OC in St. Louis.

The Browns have shaken up their offense in a major way just one season into the Mike Pettine era. They are in the market for somebody who can run an offense tied to Johnny Manziel and Josh Gordon for the foreseeable future.

Former New England Patriots offensive coordinator and Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis is also a top candidate to replace Shanahan, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
