Keane, whose professional career began at Manchester United in 2011, will be joining Burnley on a three-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee that The Guardian reports is in the region of £2 million. He had been on loan with the club since August.
"Michael is a good young player and we see a lot of development in him as he's on a good pathway at the moment and we're delighted that he has decided to join us," manager Sean Dyche said of the deal.
The 21-year-old was loaned out to Leicester City for the 2012-13 season and subsequently loaned out to Derby County the following campaign with first-team chances proving limited at Old Trafford.
