Knicks' Anthony remains out with knee injury

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Carmelo Anthony's left knee injury will keep him on the sidelines again Sunday.

The New York Knicks, hobbled by injuries, announced Anthony is out for Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks. New York is also without Amar'e Stoudemire and Andrea Bargnani.

Anthony, who missed the Knicks' last contest, has been battling a left knee injury that may eventually require season-ending surgery.

The forward will make the team's upcoming two-game road trip for contests versus the Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards, but his status for those games is unclear, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.

Anthony has fought through the injury for much of the season - Sunday will be the sixth game he's missed - but it's getting to the point where New York would be best served by shutting him down. The Knicks enter Sunday with a 5-30 record, a mark better than only the Philadelphia 76ers, and don't have a realistic shot at the playoffs, despite playing in the inferior Eastern Conference.

The seven-time All-Star is averaging 23.9 points on 45.3 percent shooting from the field, with 6.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest.
